The three genres of Indian music – singing, playing and dancing have been associated with women for centuries. Goddess Saraswati is considered the goddess of all three genres of music.
Man has accepted the reputation of women in music from Yugo. The sweetness and art of the woman’s throat is a God-given heritage, so the women have always been singing songs, bhajans, Loria, etc. and also dance in festivals and family events. Nevertheless, it has been observed that the number of women in music are less while music is a world-wide art country, province, caste, religion, and gender beyond the limits.

Yet women have had to struggle a lot to get into the field of music. But in the last 50 years, women have not only entered this field with their courage, faith, and hard work but have also made their name, today in many schools of the country, many women are not only learning music and are also teaching and All the fields of music such as classical music singer and lyricist, instrumentalist, music teacher, music critic, etc. are also joining in greater proportion.

M. S. Subbulakshmi has given an enormous contribution to Karnatic music and won numerous prizes including Bharat Ratna.

Alamelu Iyer become a founding member of the music academy and Indian fine Arts society for promotion and recognition of classical music and also give a platform to young talent.

Arati Ankalikar-Tikekar is a two-time National Award-winning Indian classical singer who is active mostly in Marathi, Konkani, and Hindi film industry.

Arundhathi is a playback singer and Indian classical music vocalist.

Nisa Azeezi is a Ghazal and Qawwali singer from Kerala.

Neela Bhagwat is a Hindustani musician of the Gwalior Gharana, Neela Bhagwat is contributions include compositions of Kabir and Meera bhajans.

Lata Mangeshkar is from Gwalior Gharana, she has contributed as a singer filmi [Bollywood] songs which attract the world’s attention in modern times.

Asha Bhosle is an Indian playback singer. she was officially acknowledged by the Guinness Book of World Records as the most recorded artist in music history. The Government of India honoured her with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2000 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2008.
